Scratch Eastern Dragon
When we think of online slot games with Oriental themes, there are some standard images that come to mind. Some of such images are martial arts, lanterns, lanterns, koi carp, and of course, the Dragon. The new game Scratch Eastern Dragon from NextGen doesn’t try too hard to step out of this stereotype. In terms of game architecture, the 5 reels and 20 paylines on this slot are nothing out of the usual. You also get to use the Autoplay feature if you want to. Like most NextGen games being released now, you can access this one too on all manner of devices. The graphics are very sharp, and the occasional animation keeps things lively. The background music is quite peppy, and dissimilar to most NextGen games.
Scratch Eastern Dragon – RTP and Maximum Win
Amidst the drums and gongs playing in the background, you can look forward to some reasonably satisfying wins. The coin range for your bets is from 0.01 to 2. Therefore the minimum bet amount is 0.20 coins, while the maximum bet amount is 40 coins. The maximum win possible is as high as 9000. In between, you have options to win rewards from 5x times to 500x times your stake. A particular symbol also gives you 5000x times your bet amount. There are some bonus features which can help you win even bigger. For example, when the free spin rounds are triggered, all your wins are attached to a multiplier which makes the wins even sweeter. The only disappointment for our reviewers was the low assured return to player (RTP) rate. At 90.86%, this was certainly not the best in class.
Scratch Eastern Dragon Symbols
The overall theme for Scratch Eastern Dragon is Asian. You might want to call it Oriental as well, but the symbols are dominated by Chinese icons. The overarching dominant icon is, of course, the dragon. That is the image after which the game is named.
Let us take a look at some of the other symbols you will encounter:
- Card Symbol Ace
- Card Symbol King
- Card Symbol Queen
- Card Symbol Jack
- Card Symbol Ten
- Card Symbol Nine
- Koi carp
- Chinese lantern
Let us now come to the special symbols of this game. We already told you about the Dragon. In China, the dragon traditionally symbolizes potent and auspicious powers. They are supposed to exercise control over water, rainfall, typhoons, and floods. Additionally, the dragon is a symbol for power, strength, and good fortune. The dragon symbol is the Wild symbol for Scratch Eastern Dragon. The Wild appears on either the first or the last of the five reels. It can be used to take the place of any other symbol if it results in a winning combination. The Scatter symbol is the only one which can’t be replaced by the Wild. Also, all the wins you get while the Wild is drawn would automatically attract a 2x multiplier. The Wild also triggers bonus rounds which we shall come to later. Then there is the Scatter symbol in this game as well. The Scatter can appear in lots of two to five. When this happens, you can get up to 100x times your total winnings.
Scratch Eastern Dragon Bonus
The wins in this game are pretty nice. For example, you can get up to 300 times your bet if you get a 5-symbol combination of playing cards. Fireworks and lotus flowers give you 500 times your bet, while 5 Chinese lanterns can give you 1000x times your stake. The koi carp gives you 5000 times your bet amount. Apart from these big wins, you can also expand the scale of your play. This comes to you with the Free Games feature, which is triggered by the Wild symbol. There are up to 15 free spins you can get when the Wild lands on the first or fifth reel. This benefits you in two ways. For each of the free spins, you stand to form more winning combinations and win more. What’s more, these free spins can be retriggered as well. Additionally, all prizes you win during the Free Spins get tripled, making you laugh all the way to the bank.
The only serious issue our reviewers had with Scratch Eastern Dragon Review was the low RTP. The individual wins we listed above are quite lucrative, for sure. But a lower RTP means you would have to spin more times to win those rewards. Otherwise, the game seems to tick off all the right boxes. The graphics and sound are good for us, and the theme is not rocket science. The bonus rounds are quite nice, and the paytable has some generous rewards. We also liked the fact that there are not too many sub plots in the game play. Coming from the house of NextGen, we would expect no less, of course. If you haven’t tried this game yet, we strongly recommend you give it a try.
